“Paolo” becomes a typhoon

Severe tropical storm “Paolo” has developed into a typhoon.

It is not expected to make landfall within the Philippine Area of Responsinility (PAR).

On Wednesday, weather bureau PAGASA located the typhoon to be 735 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 145 kph.

Paolo is forecast to move north northwest at 20 kph.

PAGASA has not raised any tropical cyclone warning signal so far.

Meanwhile, a Low Pressure Area (LPA) is hovering over Palawan.

The weather disturbance has been spotted 280 kilometers west of Puerto Princesa City.
